Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus

Bedside sleepers let you keep your baby in the same room with you are without the risk of sharing beds, which comes with a higher chance of death from suffocation. They are also a great choice for newborns.

Models with adjustable height positions can be placed perfectly on most bed frames. Also, look for breathable fabrics that are easy to clean.

Safety

A bedside cot can be described as a bassinet-style cot that fixes to the bed's side to ensure safe co-sleeping. It can be used to lift your baby toward you for comfort, feeding or soothing at the night. It's also a great option if you had a c-section. It differs from a Moses Basket or Cot as it has high walls, so your baby won't fall out. Some have a tilt function which can help babies with reflux and colic. They're also a bit bigger than Moses baskets, which could make them easier to carry from room to room.

The NHS and The Lullaby Trust, a safe sleep charity, suggest that newborns be kept in a bassinet or cot in the same room as their parents. They shouldn't be sleeping in your bed. This is because sharing a bed increases the risk of suffocation as well as overheating. Bedside cribs allow your child to sleep close to you but in a secure and distinct space.

When you are choosing a crib for your bed ensure that it meets the most recent safety standards (it should be BS EN 1130:2019) and has no gaps or parts that could cause your baby to become trapped. Also, look for a mattress that's solid and flat. A mattress that is too sagging or that is too soft may increase the risk of SIDS for your child.

Find bedding that is fitted and without pillows or blankets that are sloppy. Duvets and pillows can choke your baby, and pillows can get stuck to their faces. Use a fitted sheet however, make sure it is fitted correctly.

It's also a great choice for those with narrow or small beds as it does not take up much space.

Design

The design of a bedside crib is important as it is where your baby will spend most of their time. A lot of cribs are available in a variety of colors to complement your decor. They also have features like mesh windows that keep baby in view, or sides that drop down that allow for easier access. Some even have incline functions to aid in reflux.

You can raise and lower most cribs to match your bed's height making it easier for you to get in and out of the bed. Some cribs can be used as travel cots. This is a great feature when you travel or visiting relatives.

The neutral colors and slim frame will match most bedrooms. However some of our testers thought that the bars were too close to each other. This could result in them getting caught on baby toys or clothes. The bars' distance should not exceed 6.5cm (2 inches) in order to keep your baby's head from becoming stuck. We're amazed by the amount of features included in this crib, particularly the ComfortAir mattress, which is breathable and works to regulate your baby's temperature and maximise airflow. It's smaller than some other cribs for bedside use and can be useful when space is tight. Our mom testers are of the opinion that this crib is an excellent choice for sleepless, long nights.

It is important to know that your baby will start to get out of their crib when they are able to sit upright typically around six months. This is why it's important to put them in a cot or another sleeping arrangement when they've outgrown the crib.

A cot that is light and suitable for travel is an additional feature to consider. Some of our mothers love that this crib is able to be disassembled for transport however, others find it difficult to assemble.
